The current political landscape has significantly reshaped educational policy, social services, and research funding. Within the first month, numerous executive orders were issued targeting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), immigration policies, and federal funding for critical programs and research. Additionally, efforts to dismantle the U.S. Department of Education pose profound consequences for students, families, schools, and the broader educational landscape. These legislative shifts demand urgent attention, particularly regarding their impact on marginalized students, families, communities, educators, school social workers, and other professionals serving them.

For this special issue, we invite manuscripts that examine the impact of these policy changes on education and school social work. We are particularly interested in (a) empirical and qualitative research that explores the effects on students, families, educators, and school systems, and (b) critical analysis of policy implications for educational institutions, school social work, and broader education practice. We encourage submissions that critically analyze these ongoing changes and offer insights into how education professionals and school social workers adapt to and navigate the evolving landscape.

The deadline for manuscript submission is August 31, 2025. Early submission is encouraged. For inquiries, email NASW Press (press@socialworkers.org). To prepare your manuscript, please see Information for Authors (Writing for the NASW Press: Information for Authors). Please submit the manuscript through the online submission portal (https://cs.msubmit.net; initial, one-time registration is required) and indicate that your submission is intended for this special issue.
