NASW Standards for Social Work Practice with Service Members, Veterans, and Their Families

The NASW Standards for Social Work Practice with Service Members, Veterans, and Their Families should be a resource to social workers serving this population in any way, including clinical social workers providing mental and behavioral health services, direct practitioners in social service agencies addressing a wide range of challenges, and advocates for this population. These standards have been created to be inclusive of social work with Service Members, Veterans, and their families in all capacities. They are designed to enhance social workers’ awareness of the skills, knowledge, values, methods, and sensitivities needed to work effectively with this population.
